Hi mi was wondering if BiOrbs are good tropical fish tank??? If not what would you recommend.

Only buy a biorb if your looking for a fancy ornament, If your after a fish tank then most standard rectangular fish tanks will be a million times better,

the new Marina 35 tropical is a nice little starter kit with a similar volume to the standard biorb

Personally, I hate Biorbs. For the same price you could buy a larger, better looking tank that would be better suited for any fish.

Thanks you guys. Any recommended fish tanks from 15-30 gallons???

15-30 gallons is a rather large range. I think it would be best to determine how big of a tank you are getting first before deciding on stocking.

+1 on the Fluval Roma 125

It's a great tank and only cost me £230 with everything needed included! Obviously the stand was included at that price.

Oh ok to be more exact I want a 20 gallon tank. Where did you get your fluval. The only on I saw was a 6 gallon.

hi,

I have a fluval roma 125L and its a great tank, i got mine 2nd hand off gumtree and it came with loads of stuff plus an fluval 305 external. I paid £130 for it, there are some good bargains but most 2nd hand it is buyer collects.

mine was also second hand at £90, with new filter/heater too, might be worth checking around ebay/gumtree/freecycle/aquatist classified theres more but i can't think of them

I visited viscum in doncaster and managed to get my juwel rekord 110 with juwel compact filter, bioflow 400 powerhead and juwel 100w heater. Also came with coarse gravel substrate, 3 large rocks and 3 plastic plants and a brand new juwel monolux hood with light all for £99.99

I felt it was too good a deal to pass up. I think the moral of the story is to shop around and not rush into getting the first thing that you see. If I had done that I'd have ended up with a biorb 60l for £150. Biorb's look great but I know my bro-in-law, guppi initially got a biorb 30l and the thing just will not complete the nitrogen cycle after almost 2 months yet his fluval completed after about 4 weeks. just shows you.

Good luck with whatever you buy but remember to do a fishless cycle before stocking. plenty of advice on here (as I have found out, thanks folks!).

I think I got ripped off to be honest. I should have gone out and bought a second hand tank rather than spending £230 on a 125L. Imagine the tank I could get second hand at £230! :look:

For sure! My mum got her 5x2x2(feet) for £60 a few years ago (though it didn't come with a stand, hood or anything, it was still a bargain). I got both my four footers with stands for about £50 each. Second hand is best and for some strange reason the market for very large, second hand tanks is quite small; seems that not that many people want huge great fish tanks

It would have been nice to bet a massive tank but it wouldn't "fit in" with the design of our living room. Truthfully I wish we had a spare room!

Just to stand up for the poor biOrbs, I have a 30L one myself, and although expensive the fish did well and it was easy to change the filter and get to grips with for a first tank.
The only think I can fault it on is size for price :good:
