I've seen these advertised, does anyone know how they work? i cant find too much info on them.

thanks

I just found this through a google search 'The biOrb filter cartridge works like a waste bin, trapping dirt and keeping it out of the way of your precious fish. After 1-2 months, the cartridge is full and should be replaced with a new one, and a partial water change of approx 30% should be carried out at the same time. This anti-algae filter also contains algicide to help keep the water in your biOrb aquarium clean and algae free, and the kit includes an algae cleaning cloth and a sachet of water preparation chemicals. '

Hope it helps x

Sorry, don't know but will be interested to hear.

Unfortunately algae is, in my opinion, one of the trickiest topics in the hobby and knowing better how to deal with it successfully lies way off at the end of a number of other planted tank skills. Not to say you can't begin to learn and apply various things related to algae control, just that its better having a realistic understanding that its complicated.

Algae are opportunistic and will step in whenever plants are limited by a lack of one of their necessary resources. The limiting factor (whatever it is) will stop the plants from using all of the other resources and at that point there will inevitably be some species or other of algae that can make ready use of these extra resources.

so i presume that i just put the anti algae kit with the algicide where my filter is then? i'll buy one and give it a stab i suppose.
