Bio Wheels Or Bio Fiber

I need help please! I am use to having bio wheels and now instid of bio wheels I have a flat one called a bio-fiber it is just the same size of the filter with carbon but it is a separate peice. So I am wondering if I have another fish tank that I am trying to find a bio fiber for that can lay flat in top of the lid and I am having problems finding one small enough to fit can I cut a peice off of the bio-fiber that came with my other fish tank and use it?

A simple thought to try is to imagine the old biological matter that you would cut off in the new filter. Is it a large fraction of the new filter after you move it across? If it is not, you could try a clone like I often do. I take a filter that needs cleaning, with 25 tanks running, at least one of them needs it. I use my new tank and filter as the cleaning bucket for that old mature filter. What I end up with is a dirty looking tank with a well seeded filter. I then use a fishless cycle approach and find that I almost always have a cycled new filter in a week or less. I don't think you can beat that by carving up an old filter, and it doesn't require me to ruin an old filter either.
