I am currently cycling a 30 gallon tank for some red eye puffers and as the store wont hold my puffers for me I really want to cycle the tank as quickly as possible now I have read that Bio Spira is a really good product that actually works and that it hasnt been available because of really high demand but is just coming back onto the market now. So is Bio Spira available in the uk?

No. It's a biological enzyme product which is subject to biohazard rules, so you can't import it. As far as I remember (read an article on this a while ago), until they open a lab in Europe we won't be able to get it.

You don't need it anyway. Get some mature media and a bottle of cycle.

Ha thanks for the advice, coincedently thats exactly what I have just done....does cycle really help?? :huh:

i have some, i was also unsure if it really worked or not, i have recently had to recycle my tanks, and i used it, but i had to cheat in the end by using plants and other stuff from a cycled tank, i put them in mine to speed it all up

Id recomend to get some plants, ive never had an ammonia spike or nitrite spike in a tank with lots of live plants

Puffers are very sensitive to water conditions and preferably shouldnt be added into a tank until its been cycled for at least 6 months. However, before I added mine it had only been cycled for like, 4 weeks :p

I really wouldnt try and rush it seeing as the chances of your puffers dieing on you will be a lot higher then. I'm quite sure that if you'd ask them they would order in some extra puffers for you. If not, you can always try and see of some other shop want to order them in for you :) Good luck!

This same question was asked on another board. I contacted a friend of mine who probably sells more bio spira on the net than anyone else, and this was his response:

Gunnie, Yes..I can ship to the UK.

The site that was going to be a "middle-man" distributor isn't up;
but I can do it direct.

Global Priority runs usually about $9-12 (S/H) depending upon quantity ordered and usually gets there in about 5-7days depending upon customs
"delays"....but usually everything goes smoothly.

I wouldn't recommend shipping there during summer where delays may cause unnecessary heating probs; but this time of time is fine. We pack it
to keep stable temps for extended times. Remember that it doesn't need to be kept "ice-cold" ....just stable room temps are fine for short durations.
Next stock will be shipped out this coming week Nov 8 on until its sold out again; then I re-load each week.

Take care.

Bernie
