Bio Boost

I have never used the stuf and my first inclination is to agree with Rooster. The problem is that anything truly new will hit me much the same. For bacterial starters, I would expect to need a refrigerated storage and similar restrictions to be a necessity. The stuff won't work if the bacteria are not alive. Locking aerobic bacteria into a sealed container (no source of air) and storing it on a shelf is no way to keep bacteria alive. It strikes me as time to dance round in the garden from that respect.
I see that you have been here for well over a year so my guess is you have a source of live bacteria in a nearby tank that you could use. That will definitely speed up your cycle.

I think the sellers of these "snake oils" rely on the "bit of knowledge" saying... SOME bacteria can survive FREEZING, DRYING, EXTREME HEAT, EXTREME COLD, MASSIVE DOSES OF RADIATION.... and so on.

BUT we are after growing certain types of bacteria, which exist in a narrow band of conditions...

I would like to state that I have NO experience of these additives, and would like to see a "side by side" test done... perhaps a job for a magazine ?
But speaking from experience, and that of many others in this game, there is NO shortcut that will logically work, I have cycled many tanks (mostly the fish in cycle) and have lost a lot of stock, through ignorance and impatience...
I would NEVER do another fish in, experiements I have done, have shown that the tank is FAR healthier when a fishless is done, even long term (3 years so far) my main tank is showing a vast difference to the control tank I setup as "normal" in my eyes.
Plants are feral - almost out of control... so its not only fish that benfit !

You are (hopefully) in this game for years, if not life.... I'm sure 3 months TOPS isnt a big price to pay ? It IS worth the wait...

As much use as:

A chocolate fireguard
An inflatable dartboard
A fart in a space suit
A one legged man in an a**e kicking contest
A Trapdoor in a canoe
A concrete parachute
A solar powered torch

Thats as many as I can remember.

:good:

Just wondering if it worked, My tanks had a really bad case of ick, I needed to move the tank anyway so after my last fish died I took the tank down. So now it'as sitting empty and uncycled

If you just took the last of your fish out its not uncycled. Get a little pure ammonia and keep your bacteria going until you are sure all the ich parasites are gone. At that point you can add fish right back in because you will have kept the bacteria alive.
