I am adding some fish in my 250Gal
Currently I have a polypetrus??spelling?? 2 clown knifes 2 oscars and 2 common plecos.

Currently I have to look for about 5 min before I could find a single fish??

I was thinking maybe a school of fish that would be able to kope with the oscar when they are big..

I was thinking tinfoil bards.. or Bala sharks.

Would six of these out grow the tank when full grown??

None of fish currently is over 3inches

i think silver dollars would be nice but only if they're big enough

I have a 55 gal. and i use bala sharks for my schooling fish. They get along with a lot of other fish and the will get big enough that they wont become lunch.

Try some tiger barbs or bala's....avoid getting tetras as they will become snacks for the oscars.....

So will tiger barbs and with clown knives as well the oscars are the least of the worries.

Personally id avoid tinfoil barbs, i tried them with my large fish once and found them to be a bloody nuisence, they are very fast and very very greedy, nothing else could get a look in on any food and they would attack any fish that got in the way of their feeding. Bala sharks are ok but get freaked out easily and start smashing themselves up against the glass, it was for this reason i had to part with mine as my arowana was making their lives hell.

Personally id go with a silver dollar type fish (as is my latest plan and i have 6 of them growing out before i add them to the 200g) but be sure to make sure they are at least 4" before the other fish reach 8". Another possibility would be a large rainbow fish species like Glossolepis incisus or Melanotaenia boesemani.

i would go for boesemani rainbows or balas.

nice to see someone with the room for balas...beautiful stunning fish although people seem to think they are ok in a 55gallon. its a shame

Oooooh yes rainbow fish!!!! I think that would be splendid!!!

I would also LOVE to be able to house a few Balas some day, they are SUCH a beautiful fish

And about how the balas smash up against the tanks......would you think that larger tanks would have stronger glass??? or no??

I think the Buenos Aries tetras or the Bala sharks will be your best bet, tinfoil barbs seem a bit too easily spooked when I've seen them in shops and I think the silver dollars will be too delicate. They are peaceful and often timid or nervous fish and I don't think they could cope with boisterous oscars.

thanks, I'll have a look for rainbow fish, but I think Bala shark would be the ones I add, they are easy to find in any size I want.

I dont think tiger barbs would last very long with the clown knifes. unless they are really big,
