So, some of you may have noticed that I haven't posted in a while, well this is mostly due to the fact that I have recently moved to just outside Weston Super Mare from Aylesbury in Bucks, so hello again to all!!
Anyway, obviously I had to move my tanks, I sold 2 of them just before I moved so I only had to move 2, problem was that one of them was my biggest at 140g!!!
this was made all the worse as I lived on a 1st floor flat, so had to get the fish out, empty the tank, break it all down and get it downstairs before driving for 2 1/2 hours and setting it all up again at the other end without losing any fish!
I hired out some suckers that are used to carry big sheets of industrial glass, and to anyone who has to move a big tank, I can't recommend tham enough. They made it so much easier, and held easily. I reckon they would have lifted a tank twice the size of mine!
I put all my fish in boxes with oxygenating tablets, and put a couple of tablets in the cannister filters too, and moved everything down there, and I'm pleased to say all went well. I've had no fish losses, and they are all doing well.
To top it all off, the house I have moved into has a big whole house water softner outside, and under the kitchen sink is a domestic Reverse Osmosis water filter for drinking water, so now my fish have great water compared to the hard alkaline water they had before, My tank has never been cleaner; there is no algae, and the water is crystal clear!
Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know where I'd been and say hi again!!!
