I've been feeding my two bettas Hikari's Betta Bio-Gold, and they really like that. But I've also tried offering them live brine shrimp and frozen blood worms, and they won't touch them -- is this normal? I'm not trying to get them ready for breeding or anything, I just thought they might like a little variation in their diet, though I've read they can be picky eaters. Should I keep trying to offer them these other foods in addition to their Betta Bio-Gold ... or just stick to the pellet food?

Yes, it can be normal. Bettas are one of the few fish that develop their own personality. One of the traits in your betta's personality, is only liking and eating the betta pellets from Hikari. Otherwise, you can try feeding the frozen bloodworms at the same time as you feed the pellets, maybe they'll eat a few worms. But if they don't, then I guess you should just stick to the pellets. Whatever your betta like. :)

I would have to agree that yes it can be normal for your betta to only like the Hikari pellets. One of my bettas is the same way, but rather about flakes... he's a little crazy... :S
