Hi Betta people.

Ok, so a real stupid question but I gotta ask....Are Bettas Siamese Fighting Fish (or should that be the other ways around) 'cos that's what they look like to me  Either way, I love em!

So whats the score with these beauties? :fish:

Special needs? (tank size, food & water) (I have mature 155lt)

Tank mates? (I have corys, harlequins, flying foxes, plattys, dwarf guarmis)

How many do you have in a tank (male to male and male to female ratios)

I know I can ask my LFS but I find it very hard to trust a stranger trying to sell me something :hey:

So, over to you guys.....again sorry about my ignorance (be fair to me now!)

They are the same fish.
Bettas are best kept in a small tank on their own with a little filter and heater.
Males should never be kept together as they will fight, possibly to the death. And a female should only be kept with a male for breeding, not at any other time.
Also, Bettas are best not kept with Gouramis, again you run the risk of aggression and fighting.

It's definitely worth convincing her but don't end up like me. I started out with 1 in a 5G tank and now have 4 all in 5G tanks!
They are beautiful fish and don't really need to be kept with anything else as they'll quite happily show off all day for you and keep you entertained.
If you have a look in the Pinned Topic in the Betta section that might give you a bit more info.
People on here will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.
Good luck with the Mrs! ;)
