Hi guys,

I looked at my yellow betta today and noticed he had a lump on one side. He doesn't show any sickness signs, eats well, is very active etc. Can anybody tell me what it is and how to treat this? Thanks!

Here are the pictures:

I took several and hope at least 1 is clear enough for you to see what it actually is.

The pics are pretty clear. The second and third pic look like missing scales or an injury of some kind. Pic one, four and five look like it could be a fungus. What concerns me is the red line at the base of the tail. I don't know much about bettas. That line may be normal for all I know. Hopefully someone with more experience with bettas will chime in and help.

I am not sure what is wrong, other than fishscale loss....keep an eye out for finrot though. Also are all your plants real...plastic plants can damage scales and fins
plus, your fish is stunning, seriously the prettiest betta I have seen on this forum ( no offence, they are all cute to me, but I love yeloow/gold bettas)

He is Gorgeous  back on subject, is there anything he could have caught himself on?

Give him a few extra water changes to be sure it doesn't get infected :good:

Has he always had the red line at his tail base? looks like a Vein

Thanks for the replies and the compliments! Yes, the plants are real, and there is not really anything in thetank that could have hurt him. I have just changed the water yesterday, but will keep an eye out for finrot. As far as I know he has always had the red line at the tail base.
