Betta With Whitespot

What exactly is the make and model of the filter? (I'll try and work out what you mean)

And if I remember correctly Interpet No6. is Dose, wait 4 days and then dose again. So it shouldn't be a problem at all.

The only reason I suggested Interpet No6 Anti-Whitespot over what Laurafrog mentioned is because I know for a fact PetsAtHome stock it. It's where I got mine from.
I'm sure Laurafrog is right that what she suggested is better, but if you were unable to find it then I just figured that I KNOW, you'll be able to get hold of the Interpet stuff.

I'll look at the filter now.

Oh brill :good: Any idea how much it costs as it doesn't show it on their website?!

£5-£10. Can't remember now, it was quite awhile ago.

And it looks like the filter has carbon chips in it? Just remove those, take some tank water, remove any leftover dust etc. Then run the filter as normal. :)

Maybe too late as you are probably in P@H...

I used waterlife protozin when I first treated whitespot but then moved to Esha meds as they are more suitable for med-sensitive fish (plecs can be sensitive to copper meds too)

However last time I just whacked the temp to 30 and did daily water changes - not had it since.

Most diseases in fish are brought on by stress and poor water new fish are of course often particularly prone.

Can you test your water BEFORE adding meds tonight - need to keep an eye on your ammonia level.

Hellooooooooooo,

Well I have just got in from work after popping to the pet shop and Rufus seems to have lost the white spots on his nose but there are still a few on his tale... not a huge amount, but I would rather he had none.

I thought I would tell you my plan of action before I did anything

Firstly I have just set up my spare tank for my frog... however I have decided to pop my catfish in there too, until I take him back... as I have just seen one in the petshop kill a fish and I don't want that to happen to Rufus, so not taking the risk!!!

Secondly when the spare tank has warmed up a bit (as I transferred some of the old tank water into it, but also put some new water in too) I am gonna pop them in.

Thirdly I am gonna get my stats on my tank then replace the water I took out with new water (i will declorinate*sp)

Fourthly I am gonna switch off my filter for an hour while I medicate... i will stir the tank in this period.

Finally I am gonna take my current filter pad I have out and replace it with a new non carbon one (I will keep my old one) and switch my filter back on!!

Does it seem like a good plan??

Oh and I have also turned the heater up 2 30c

You saw a plec kill a fish? Highly unlikely, are you sure it wasn't just eating the body of a dead fish?

I've kept many plecs and none have ever killed anything and only 1 ever ever acted a bit aggressive.

Don't put him in the tiny tank - take him back!

Back to the topic, what are your water stats?

He is going back!!! As soon as I can take him.... I am gonna bollock the shop as well

I am just doing them now!!

Looking at him some more... it looks like he has lost some more spots off his fins!!

Stats just in (pretty much the same as Tue)

pH - 7.2
High pH - 7.4
Ammonia - 0 - 0.25 (more towards 0, so better than tue)
Nitrite No2 - 0
Nitrate No3 - 0 - 5 (lower than Tue)

Tap water ammonia level - 0

He deffo has less spots than this morn... I would say he has 10 max!! Maybe I should wait before putting the med in and just up the temp and do a water change?

I'd be very tempted to do that - a water change and keep the temp up. Your stats are looking good, almost cycled which is great for your fish :)

Yeah and I don't wanna ruin that if I can help him.... but I also what him to be ok :)

I think I have decided on what fish I am gonna get next when everything is ok too :good:

what you looking at? You'll need to wait at least 4 weeks after the last spot is gone before adding anything too.
