Betta Types?

Ok, so I have set up my 34ltr as a betta tank with pigmy cory. Cycled, well matured and ready to go! (See sig.)

I want a really special Betta (ok, they're ALL special), different then!

CT (Crown Tail?) Splended or something? Right, can someone put me straight please.

In my LFS they have either shredded looking blue or scarlet 'Fighters. Nothing I would like to have even if they were healthy.

I (or now the royal we, she's interested now!) want something knockout. What to ask for or where to get it is another thing. I don't like the idea of posting fish so it will have to be within sensible collecting distance (South Hampshire).

So what am I after experts and do you have a photo/species name of yours if you think it fits the bill (there's a challange!)

The "shredded" ones as u put it could be prob either a Crowntail, they often look shredded unless they or flared

OR

a Veiltail thats been shredded by other fish

CT = crowntail, its also splendens instead of splended
Ct is a betta with extended rays that go way beyond what would seem like the end of the tail,
DT is a tail split into 2 halfs, this can come in either Veiltail (normal shop betta) form, PK (wild form) or Halfmoon (180 degrees span)
Veiltail is the usual long tailed variety found everywhere
There are also rosetail and feather tails that give you the highest forms of tails created by crossing halfmoons at the start, its long winded really
will get you a link to the tail types so you can pics if no one beats me too it

your more than welcome to come to bournemouth and get a betta from us, they are all singapore imports and we have our best at present on ebay at the moment, not far for you to come since just down the road.

There is also halfsun bettas. These are very hard to achieve. You need to breed ct and hm and very few of their ofspring will have the official halfsun.

That's more like it, thank you. I really am not into posting but the DPS site/dealer is only 30 miles away and will be in contact with them for sure!

The shredded ones I refered to at the LFS had been stripped by other fish (i had a word!)
