Very sweet little guy. Yesterday I went to my LFS and saw 2 absolutely beautiful bettas! Alas..I have no room to keep them.

If you really want to splitting the 5 Gallon into 2 2.5 gollon sections isn't bad especially in a cycled filtered tank. Just make sure they have plenty of plants and hidey holes to keep them occupied is all.

Most definitely. I responded recently to a topic that got into 3/4 gallon tanks being "betta hell".... with a differing view along the lines of "more like not ideal". I keep my bettas in 5 gal tanks each.... but splitting 5 gal wouldn't be anything ridiculous. I would consider that a good setup

I started the topic mentioned above.."betta hell". Just to clarify..it actually wasn't the 3/4 of a gallon I was referring to as hell but the fact that the pretty 'vase' ROTATED constantly (which would not allow for any wires from filters or heaters..there was no room for them anyways) The 'tank' I refered to as prison was 1/2 gallon and had a platy in it as well.. I'm not starting an argument..just clarifying!!

His tail fin is rounded, the anal and dorsal fins are pointed, ill have to take a few more pics when hes settled in a little more.

Great looking guy, I love the deep blue color. I think he's a VT though. I recently picked up a spade tail and as far as I know a spade tail is like a PK but the center pinches out in the middle, like the spade on a playing card, but their may be more than one definition of spade tail.

Awww he is a lovely Blue, nice find hun, his tail is quite short but defo a VT probably got some delta in him along the lines.

I'm going on another hunt this weekend or tomorrow, this time alittle further away.

I got 3-4 shops in mind, that sell fish, just hope they sell bettas I'll probably go for another male for my divided 5gallon.

I dont take long to find what im looking for

My new boy, he's red with blue dots around his belly and on his tail fin. Im not quite sure what he is, as i've only seen him flare once, i'll have to get a pic when hes settled in. Although he does looke alot like NETTY'S strudel when he flares. NETTY, what type is studel?

Here he is anyway......

I managed to get a nice pic of the other male flareing (maybe someone can id him now?)
He can see the new male just through the divider, he hasen't moved from the divider since i put the other male in over 2 hours ago lol, the new one hasen't taken much notice.

so what do you think?

The new guy is a VT and your blue guy is a VT with some SD is my guess. The new guy looks great though. Get a pic or two up of him flaring when you can, he looks like he'd be a real beauty when he does.
