I want to get rid of my plastic ones and get some real ones. So what do you guys recommend for bettas in particular?

(remember, I'm a beginner)

I use flourescent light. the light is as long as the tank (5 gal./16 in). Plus I get some moderate sun light in my room. However, I placed the tank where it won't get any direct sunlight, just reflected light (like off my walls).

medium-fine substrate - natural

78/80 degree F - 26/27 C

Thanks!

You have basically the same tank I have, so your light is probably kinda low unfortunately. I have a java fern, java moss, and hornwort doing well in there, and some anacharis that's doing ok after some acclimation, but it could be better.

I definitely recommend java fern. I have one in with my boy Jack and his cories - they looooove it. It has two babies too, so if they have babies and those have babies... I'll have enough for all my betta tanks from just one plant! :hyper: (Sorry just thought of that... hehe)
