I am wondering if you can keep betta without lights? I think I read somewhere that they live in darkish water? Can't remember. They will have the light thats coming in throught the window though.
My tank is 11 1/2 W by 12 H by 23 H. in inch. About 52L I think. I was thinking of dividing it with a Penn Plax devider or somthing to keep 4? betta in. What do you think?

Bettas do not need a light although it is a good thing for them to at least have some natural light to stimulate day/night cycles.  As far as dividing what accounts to aprox 10 gallons(for us that don't use the metric system LOL) into 4 sections--that is not a bad idea to keep 4 bettas.  I have kept 10 gallons divided with up to 4 bettas before many times and find that they work out quite well.  The cycle and heating is more stable in a bigger tank and easier to maintain.  There are a couple of things to think about with a divided tank.  If one betta gets sick -- chances are they all will get sick since they "share" the water.  You need to keep the water level normally an inch or more below the top of the dividers to help keep the bettas from jumping the dividers. I also advise placing plants(real or fake) near the dividers to keep them from stressing over having a neighbor they might not like.

Thanks. Just got 2, going to post about them later.
