So my betta Koral has been extremely large and bloated for about a week now and I am positive it is because she needs to release her eggs. I can see her ovipositor and it looks like she is bursting with eggs. The problem is that I do not have a male betta around, shes my only betta and I have read online that they shouldn't get eggbound with no male around. She is not acting sick at all, eating fine and is full of energy. I know its not dropsy because her scales look fine and its not constipation bc she poops everyday. I don't know how to help her release or absorb the eggs, but she is so huge that it must be very uncomfortable. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

poop that is way worst then Egg bound .  That fish has Dropsy !  Its not good I am sorry.

It's not dropsy. If it was dropsy she would be acting sick & her scales would be raised which they are not. She has looked like this before and once she released her eggs she was fine. But this time she isn't releasing them for some reason

Dropsy does not always show the raised scales or any other signs of sickness so it could be dropsy.  I am not sure if I believe it is dropsy or not but I do not believe she is egg bound.  What comes to my mind when looking at her and your information that she has looked like this before, is a cyst.  They can come and go but normally are not curable.

If you don't mind my butting in, what are cysts caused by? Is it genetic?

With some fish, I believe it might be but with others...it is hard to say.  Some are more prone to issues like cysts and tumors, example dragon scale bettas.  I have never personally heard what causes some of the clear fluid cysts that some bettas end up with.
