Betta In A Community Tank?

Channti

You could add some pygmy corys quite happily in that sized tank , either pymaeus , hastatus or hasbrosus , these are lovely little corys and still do a good job cleaning and your brother would enjoy watching them
another suggestion that does not add hardly anything to the bio load is khuli loaches , a lot of people say they are shy in day time but mine now come out during the day to feed and my kid love them

take care sarah x

Yep, I've got two male swordtails. :)

As for my decisions on a bottom feeder, we added a small pleco to the tank (about 1 & 1/2 inches long) a couple days ago, but I think we only saw him out and about for about an hour before he took refuge in one of the ornaments. He hasn't left the ornament since, so I really hope he'll adjust to my tank. My tri-colour shark wouldn't leave the Pleco alone when he was added to the tank (appearing to nibble at the pleco's tail), so that could have something to do with it.

Today we took another trip to the LFS and I picked up their last two cories (habrosus cory). I wanted to pick up 3 of them, but they only had two left. They're getting more in a few days, so I'll probably grab another one. Besides my blind-cave tetra smacking into one of them a couple times (he is blind after all...) they seem to get along fine with the rest of my tank.

Thanks! Everyone on these forums are really helpful and knowledgeable.

what type of pleco did you get? A lot of shops sell common plecos which are tiny as juveniles, but get absolutely huge.... :p if you need an ID, nip over to the catfish part of the forum with a pic :)

No idea. He wasn't labeled with a tag. I'll have to head over there and get him ID'd.
