Betta Has Silver On It's Face

I have a male Betta that has silver scales on it's face between it's eyes and almost down to his mouth. Do you think he has something wrong with him or could this be from old age? We have had him for 2 years and he was already adult size when we got him.

my betta, bubbles, has those also. I thought they may have been something wrong, but he's acting great, nothing wrong. All that he does have is a cloudy eye. I'm in the process of curing it though.
