It doesnt sound good gold fisher! Poor you could you get some pics of him? Dont give up hope entirely because of the guy at the pet shop! Why dont you buy some fungal meds, check his water stats let us know how they are. It might help him to be in a breeding trap so he can reach air easily

Is he with other fish? How warm is he at the moment? is he eating?

If he doesnt have a filter try and keep his water as clean as you can

Hes in a large bowl, no filter, dont know water stats, fish store guy said you dont need to measure anything as the climate is sub-tropical and water is unchlorianted.

which medicines to use? I agree everything is possible with God so I dont go with fish guys opinion, I am also adding holy water to his bowl.

you need some topical fungal meds that can be found at the LFS and to do water changes on his bowl he needs clean water Id do a 20% water change. Sadly LFS's are often misguided, bettas do in fact need a heater and at least a 2 gal tank preferably 3 or more. Although they are air breathers water stats still affect them dramatically.

I feel his best bet is a water change every day, anti fungal meds such as Methylene Blue are available but Id go to your LFS and try and get something more topical.

You can also buy water testers at the LFS

Thanks, I have Methylene Blue at home but stopped using it because it was not to be mixed with a de-chlorinator, I doubt LSF guy will give medicines, as he could have told me what to use when I took the fish to him to see.

Hi

Definately need info :good:

Water change frequency?
Sub-tropical? where are you based?
Temperature of water?

Fungus can be treated if not too advanced, although yours sounds pretty poorly.

I am not sure if it will work if the fumgus is severe but I have had good results getting rid of fungus with salt.

Also daily water changes.
