I discovered a severe discolouration on the body and it looks as if the body is 'tightening' at that place. It seems as if the culprit is 'eating away' the body fat.

Betta eats normally. Normal diet consists of betta pellets, frozen shrimp and spirulina flakes.

I have been treating with fungus cure for 2 days but am not seeing any improvements.

Temperature is 25 degrees.

Hopefully somebody can help me! Pho is my favourite mustard gas plakat that I brought from Vietnam a bit over a year ago...

Thanks!

Is there any slime on body or fins?
Does the fish flick and rub on objects in the tank?
It hard to tell in the pic, but does the discolouration look like cotton wool?
Hows the fish breathing?
Any sores, or tiny pin prick marks on the fish body, or fins?
Any signs of darting, or erratic swimming?
Is the skin falling away in strips? Or cracking?

Sorry for all the questions.

Columnaris can eat the skin away, and cause inflamed muscle damage.

I think you are right about the columnaris. I wonder where it comes from though as all my tanks get weekly water changes, are heated and filtered...

I have now added omnipur and baktopur to the treatment and will proceed with sterilising the tank and my fish nets. Thanks!

Causes of columnaris are.
Bad water quality,
Dirty tank.
Not preforming tank maintenance once a week.
Rotting food. Plants.
Unstable temp.
inadequate filteration.
Stress.

Can you let us know how the fish gets on. That's if you don't mind,
Good Luck.
