Betta Flaring On Bottom

My betta has been flaring on the bottom a lot, I think he watches me on the computer. He sticks his tail up near the front of the tank. He's been doing this every 10 minutes for the past week or so. Is this his "I want food" beg or just his protecting his territory personality? Anyone else's do this?

He is probably just telling you off. I have one boy near the sofa where I sit and he flares at me moving about. Then after a while swims off. Until he remembers and comes back to warn me again.
