I'm just wondering about my new HM betta's true tail type. I bought him as a HM and now looking at him he looks more like a HMCT. I have a few pictures to try and show you what I mean...
The outlining is just to give a rough idea.
I outlined the fins I'm looking at and wonder why if it was just damage it would be so neat.

Im not to sure. i wouldnt say he's a crowntail...............he is a beast though where did you get him

I'm no expert, but it looks like fin damage to me, he seems to have quite a few chunks missing, some good water & tlc & he'll soon be back to normal

+1! Frequent small w/cs should sort it out soon enough :)

He's a lovely boy! Definitely a Hm :good:

I can confidently say that his tail has been like that from when I got him last September until when I sold him to you. His water was always crystal clear so if it was damaged it would have heeled up.

I'm just thinking because the damage is neat. I'll post a picture without the guidlines as it makes it look mess, his water is crystal clear and there has been a slight regrowth on his tail but nothing on his fins...

Look closely at the dorsal fin pattern.

I'll try getting some better pictures... This isn't the best.

It just looks slightly damaged to me, try some 25% wcs every day for about a week and see if it improves. If not and it doesn't get worse then just leave it :good:
