My tank HATES ME!

I blame the loaches ever since i added the kuhlis it's been one thing after another with Radishes tank. While The captains tank is happily cycled and crystal clear with him bubble nesting( i never thought he would as he's a rescue and was in a bad way when i got him) merrily Radishes tank is in a mess.

Ever since adding my kuhlis the tank has been in a mini cycle so i was changing water (14litres) twice a day and was managing to keep the ammonia in check. But then Radish injured his gill so i had to run a course of melafix on the tank at half dose and i stupidly decided to change the water every other day to save the medication as money is very tight at the minuit- Youth work support assinstants get paid terribly , as well as me having to get through college. I checked the ammonia after his gill had healed a few days later and was horrifyed 1ppm!!!! So i'm now changing water all day on top of me having the fright of my life when i thought Radish had finrot but now i think it could be down to bad water quality (apologies for the appaling pic)

After franticly doing an 80% water change i have my stats down to 0.25ppm for ammonia and will be doing another change after an hour, my tank is now cloudy as my sand got distubed when i had to just tip the fresh de-chlorinated,sadly with ammo-lock, water in the tank from the buckets :( as my filter STOPPED WORKING!!!

I panicked took it out of the water and cleaned the sponges in tank water i know this is bad during a mini cycle but i had no idea what else to do and after that didn't work and i was about to give up hope as i have no where near enough money to buy a new one i hit the flipping machine stuck it in the tank and willed with all my might that it would just work. It did! So if in doubt hit it!

I'm losing the will to live with this tank and wish it would just be o.k i want my Radish and even the loaches (that i'm holding a grudge against :grr: ) to be happy and healthy, why won't it work out!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!

If I were you, I would take some filter sponge from the cycled tank and pop it in Radishes filter, to give that mini cycle a lick start. just replace what you take with fresh sponge, and don't take more than half - the bacteria will repopulate real quick :)

I feel your pain. I have a couple of bettas in fish-in atm and it's such a worry. Then parasites, constipation and split fins-you just don't need it!
So your filter is working and you only cleaned it in tank water? The bacteria should still be OK :)

The filter in radishes tank is a stingray 10 and i just don't want to go breaking the filter in my other tank to try get some media out. It's just depressing seeing my little guy in misty water and bad water, he still swims about but he's nothimself and his beautiful fins are all stuck together because of the water. I blame the bloody loaches all was well untill they came   :-(

I'd rehome the khulies if I were you. And ask an LFS if they can spare you some mature media if you can't spare it from th other one. There is also a thread on here where members will donate you some mature media if they are near enough to do so.

Add as much mature stuff as you can , it will speed things up vastly.

I'm looking into it. If i can find somewere to take them i'll rehome the kuhli's i'm determined to stick it out and bring my boy out the other side.

how many loaches did you add? they are particularly low on the bio-load. swap some media as other folks said. sucks about all the waterchanges. been there done that!
good luck

Lol it's ok CT everyone is fine now, I'm stiill changing water alot though, but everyone is happy and healthy :good:
