Hi guys i've had my betta for a few months now, and he was always incredibly lively, patrolling the front of his tank and chasing his platty buddies about but suddenly today after my regular weekly 50% water change he's started sulking, just lying on the bottom of his tank and only occassionally surfacing for air, i think he's eating ok i just dunno what's wrong with him, all my water parameters are fine and he doesn't look any different, anyone got any ideas?

could be that the water change has unsettled him, they are quite sensitive at times to a change in water chemistry but not always.

oh right thanks, it just seems strange that i've done about nine or ten water changes since he's been in the tank and he's always been fine, i just tried to put some live food into the tank which he usually gets really excited about but at the moment he's not taking any interest. I'm not sure what age he was when i bought him but he was quite big, he's probably about two inches long, could it be that he's nearing the end? i've heard that bettas don't have a very long life span?

i think that it's the water change that just shocked him that's all, hopefully he'll swing around soon . . .

if not, keep us updated :good:
