Betta And Tetra

I've seen bettas in stores, kept in a tank full of neons with SHREDDED fins. Wether by stress from being with fast moving fish or by the neons themselves, I would strongly advise not to keep with tetras.

yh but do you know it was the tetras? my lfs get bettas in that have alredy been shreeded before they get to the shops. or it couls have been the filters?

Not the filters, I've seen bettas in the same tank setups with cories , or alone and no shredded fins there. And the filtration system had all the same intake grills. I'd place a very high bet on the tetras. I've honestly yet to see one in with them that doesn't have damaged fins.

Some tetras will nip fins some wont. It is really up to the enviroment they are in, how many are in the group and the temperament.

Me personally, i have kept a betta with 8 Cardinal Tetras and they were all fine. :)

would a betta and x-ray tetra be able to go together and also would platys:hey:

if by "x-ray tetras" you're referring to pristellas then no, it most likely won't work. pristellas are commonly labeled as x-ray tetras. anyway, i had a betta in a 20 gallon with about 12 pristellas and it worked for a little while.. but eventually the tetras started to nip (as they usually do). the betta got fin rot soon after and i had to move him out. in my experience bettas really dont like the company of schooling fish anyway. all it takes is one nip for him to live a paranoid life.

Thnx guya and my pleco is in the sale section now
