Betta And Guppies?

My bf's mum has my old tank which was fully cycled etc so went out and bought fish.i told her after i have researched ALOT the last few months that i have seen that siamese fighters and guppies shudnt be together cuz of the guppies tails.they havdm bought guppies i havent seen before with slightly split tails (like swordtails) but also neon colours similar to like on glolite tetras. She thinks they wil be fine together but i am a bit worried. Should i just leave it? She thinks she knows more as she has had tropicals before. Its becuz im 21 and obviously not knowledgeable enuf. She wanted to put clown loaches in a 95l tank!

Hi, knowledge has nothing to do with age I can assure you! There are several younger members on these forums (speak up you guys) that can show us oldies up I can tell you......

The fact that you question your bf's mum's intentions shows you already have some good idea about fish keeping..

You are very right about mixing gups and bettas (aka Siamese fighting fish) The main reason is that because of the similarity of the two species (apart from the size) the bettas will act the same way as it would to another male.

Betta's are best kept alone in 5 ltr+ tank although there are some select fish that can be tolerated. Betta's also can be quite happy in a community tank but only with fish not to be considered as fin nippers such a tetras.

Sounds like endlers or an endler/guppy mix. Im also 21

yer i am 15 and i now have 3 tanks
and yer dont keep them together
