Hey,

I'll be going to visit my Grandparents tommorow, and will leave my fish for the period of time (5 or 6 days). My question is, should I prepare a feast for him, or feed him small rations, for the mornings last feed.

Thanks,

DL

If would be easier if you did get someone to feed your fish while your away but if not I would just feed that as normal on the last day, they should be fine for 5 days.

I always just leave the fish completely alone when i go away, leaving other people in charge of your fish is usually a very good way to come home to dead or dying fish.

Two days before i leave i strip down and clean the filters so that i can be sure that they will continue working properly and the night before i leave i feed all the fish well making sure that they all get a decent belly full of food.

Also might depend on the type of fish. Livbearers i know can be left for a few days without food and be fine. Just give the tank a bit of a cleaning before you go, that feast you feed them before you leave will become waste eventually. And your fish will be very happy to see you when you get home

Worst thing you can do is "feed him up" before you go... If your tank is stable, and been running a while then just GO !!!! No need to do anything really - maybe a water change if its due.

are them pyramid food blocks useless???
Most of those are made of mostly plaster and pollute your tank.

Like CFC said just leave them. I see it as a lot more risky to have someone come and feed them. I am out of town right now and will be for a total of 6 days. I will take my chances with them starving to death before I take the chance of having one of my friends messing around with the tanks. I do a large water change the day before I leave and feed like normal, no more no less.
