I need to cut a section off the FRONT of my 20 gallon tank's hood to make room for a refugium. The hood is your typical black plastic. I'm thinking just take a hacksaw to it, then sand it down? Is there a better/easier/safer way?

i use a hacksaw... i think i might of used scissors once as well on weaker plastic ones :good:

That's what I'd do as well.

hi,when cutting plastic hoods to allow filter return pipes etc i heat up a old knife with a butane flame and let the hot knife do the cutting(the knife melts its way through the plastic)i find it better than a hacksaw because using a hacksaw can crack the plastic.. :) but whatever you use hope it works out for you. :)

hole drilling attachment on a hand drill and a file, or simply use your teeth and chew away at it. nom nom

I'm going to have to cut a hole in the back when I get my HOB filter :/
