I took my three ornaments out today to clean them as they were all really dark green.

One of the rocks is really stained with the green algae-like substance and scrubbing at it doesn't appear to remove it all.

What is the best way to clean the rocks and decorations? Would boiling water and a detergent help? Or is that a "no no"?

Pure bleach mixed with water, soak overnight then quick scrub with a toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly several times until no bleach smell and when putting back into the tank double the dose of de-chlorinator for the whole tank.

Excellent, thanks! The rocks are currently sitting in a pail of warm water and bleach. I'll bring them out in the morning and see what they're like.

Fantastic advice, I took the rocks and ornaments out the pail this morning and they were spotless. I gave them a scrub and put them back in the tank.

Job done! :)
