Best Powerhead

have you seen or had one in real life? My 2's opening couldnt fit my 2 small clowns, i mean it can fit the goby but im sure the tunze could fit a goby too.
Yes. It was after seeing one in action at an lfs tank that I thought "That looks far too easy for anything to wander into". Considering the small size of apertures that fish get squashed up against and nems get diced by, having an aperture that size is just too much in my opinion. Maybe the 2 is small enough for your clowns not to get in, I know for a fact that both my clowns upon purchase would fit inside the 3 together without problems.

The Tunze has a cross over the opening and comes with a grill to cover over the opening creating an even smaller set of holes. Having seen both types of pump in operation in the flesh, I would never go for a hydor over a tunze, especially as the hydor are not much cheaper (if at all) on an LPH for LPH basis, are larger and cost more to run.

Hence, the BEST powerhead (as asked at the start of the thread) is a Tunze. It has been for years, and will probably remain so for some time too.

I'll agree, the Tunzes are probably the "best" but they're hard to find over here without forefiting your first-born child.

Fisheaded, if directed properly, the output of the nano model of koralia should be fine for you :)

Im in the US and Im getting ready to buy a tunze, I dont see why you say theyre hard to come by here? Unless you meant in buffalo :p

My powerhead blows bubbles when it is too near the surface and draws a vortex of air into it. Try moving yours down.

Thats the only possible way really..

since we're on the subject, does pretty much everyone agree that tunze makes a good powerhead? It'd be nice to hear before I shell out $100

Tunze made the first powerhead designed for aquaria, they also designed the first venturi based Skimmer. Then Tunze went on to be the first to create the low power, high movement "propeller" style powerheads.

Tunze have a history of very good logevity (I am using two powerheads that were made before the Berlin Wall came down and Germany was unified, making them at least 17 years old).

Essentially, where Tunze leads, the rest follow.

that right there is pretty much the sales pitch that drove me to my purchase hah, tunze owes you a thank you, ebay here I come :)
