Best Online Aquatics Centre?

How many holding tanks are you going to have and where are you based. Have you got your systems running already.

we sure are. the business will be run from home kind of thing in the early days, if it becomes succesful then expansion is always in the picture. It will mainly be all on the net. and you can look at our site now and some of our expected stock due for Febuary.

to start with we'll have about 1400l of stocking space, all racking is currently being made.

check out the site and have a read through there's most info I'll tell you on there right now.

1400l is a start I have a tank almost that big in my living hope it goes well. Suggest you would be better using a wholesaler as the most you will be able to keep on there is 3 boxes.

Ok it more like a 1000L 8'X2'X2.5'
The trouble is not so much the filtration as aggresion problems damaging the stock when keeping odd balls togethor. I would run at least 100w of uv on a 1400l system to prevent the bulid up of infection within a heavily stocked system. The reason for suggesting a wholesaler is to enable you to stock a wider ranger and fewer of them. Yes it has cost huge disadvantages and further risks of infection but for a new business its a much safer investment. Once you have more tanks and a good customer basis you can start to mix in your own imports of the top sellers. Seen your tanks on the other thread and looks like you have done a neat job.

The link doesn't work.. It just takes you to another page. Can you fix that soon because I will be interested to have a read. :)

I think you'll find most of the stuff Paul and Dan are bringing in isnt available from wholesalers, if they were then there wouldnt be much point in stocking them since every other shop would already have them. Their idea is to bring in a selection of fish which are not commonly seen in fish stores to supply the collectors of rare and unusual fish who are bored of having to hunt through thousands of tanks of live bearers and common community to find anything worth buying.

Website is suffering some provider issues at the moment, it will be back up and running once the beating i will administer becomes effective :(

There is the new Maidenhead Aquatics in east bridgeford and they do good marines and trops even if they don't have as many tanks as some of there other stores. Wharf isn't amillion miles away and thats supposed to be one of the best shops in the country, personally however I am not a massive fan of the place seen better. But it depends on how far you find it acceptable to go I know to people who happily travel 100miles once twice a week to there favorite shop.

That is something I would never do, travelling in excess of 20-30 minutes to get to an aquatic store is stupid and pointless im my opinion - unless they have very rare fish in that can't be obtained in areas nearby. As for corys etc, it would be silly to travel that far.

East bridgeford would take around 40 minutes drive from Newark, and I dont think my family would justify travelling that far, its very rare for them to travel to west bridgeford garden centre, let alone elsewhere.

When you live in the highands laddie 40 mins is nothing, we used to think nothing of having to travel a 160 mile round trip to go to the shops.

I agree that some of the stuff on his list is rather rare but the better shops have or can get most of it and a decent wholesaler would be happy to order specials for the business. I am sure you will be able to find buyers for what you stock just don't think you can make money at it. Hope you proof me wrong.

Hey guys, this sounds like a pretty ace prospect. I'd certainly be up for ordering from a company run by trustworthy TFF legends.

Good luck with getting going etc.

Cheers,
Luke.
