Just was curious about what are your alls favorite types of food for your fish. :fish:

What do you like to feed your livebearer fish?

Also for babies what do you think is the best food for them and what do you feed?

*All thoughts and opinions welcome.*

Do a quick search next time. This question has been asked a couple times recently. Live foods are always best as they are natural. Fish also eat based on instinct so food that moves is always good. Baby brine shrimp for fry is great, because the fat content is high for initial growth.

I only feed the best flake which i believe is TetraPro goos coloured fish and good growth on the fry.

Live foods are great foods as well, newly hatched brine shrimp and grindel worm are what i use.

I have done my research. I own many different livebearers and other types of fish. And I knew there were many people on here from all over the world. So I decided to see what peoplereallyfeed.

Because there are sooooo products out there, it's nice to see what people actually use and purchase. Then the regular idea of just deciding to pick up some random product and be like..."well this seems good. don't know if it's worth the money but i'll buy it."

Slightly misleading this, as it gives the impression livebearers would do well on a diet of nothing but bloodworms, brine shrimps etc. In fact, many livebearers need a high vegetable content in their diet- vegetables are "natural", though it is hard to describe them as "live". And grazers like mollies have no difficulty in recognising green matter as food just because it doesn't move (cows don't either come to think of it). Feeding mollies on bloodworm all the time, or other high protein food, might well lead to health problems.

In general, I think a varied diet is good for livebearers. I feed:

ordinary flakes
TetraPro vegetable flakes
peas
spinach
sprouts
broad beans
broccoli
grindal worms
daphnia
bloodworm
brine shrimp
jellied bloodworms, brine shrimp and daphnia (TetraDelica)

my babies get liquifry and the TetraDelica stuff and deshelled brineshrimp and Tetra fry food and finely mashed peas. The porthole babies eat grindal worm as well, but the ticos and tiger teddies find them a bit big atm

Good list dwarf gourami.
Feed mine them sort of things.
Algae tablet go down well with livebearers.

Never knew you could feed all those to fish. How do you prepare them? (especially curious about the broccoli)

Just blanche them by putting them in a pot and bringing it to the boil, as soon as it boils, turn it off and let it cool.

With the peas, de-shell them and squash them.

Broad Beans, not sure, probably the same as peas.

Spinich, sprouts, zucchini, cucumber and broccoli, I usually push onto a metal BBQ skewer which I then lean against the wall of the tank, this stops the veg' from floating and also puts it at different levels so that more fish have a munch. Bit like a vegie kebab!

Edit> I forgot to add that I don't usually bother to blanche either the zucchini or cucumber.
