Best General Flake Food

gee i started something here lol.
New Life Spectrum - not seem that in the uk or not easily found.
so tetra is iffy then , what else apart from New Life Spectrum?

You can probably order it online. I don't think you're going to get him to suggest another food as he only recommends and feeds NLS. I feed my shrimp Hikari Crab Bites which from me speaking to a successful shrimp breeder and breeding shrimp myself I think it's a great food...but, I don't know how the rest of their food stacks up. You would have to research the ingredients. The rest of my fish get NLS. It is a high quality food but I'm sure there has to be others out there. NLS can't be the only decent fish food in the whole world, lol.

It is not the only decent food, but IME it is the best.

I feed Thera+A to all my fish. Agreed, buying NLS online shouldn't be a problem, and may be cheaper.

If my memory serves NLS tends to be a little more expensive than any other leading brand am I correct

Petco Internet price: NLS is 7.99

Tetra min tropical flakes: starting from $2.24

You also usually get more with NLS.

You also get what you pay for (cheap, low quality ingredients lead to a cheap, low quality food).

Most people who feed NLS find it lasts much longer than expected, and they don't have to feed as much of it. With the nutrition more concentrated it takes less of the food for them to get what they need (also cuts down on waste).

Well most food says it keeps food from fouling the water so it's really complicated to know which is better on that and for nutrition its really very complicated to know what food is good for fish because u need to be practically a biologist to know half the stuff they talk about

Well you're in luck because fishguy2727 is a biologist (as it says in his signature) so I'm sure he's got a tad bit of knowledge on the subject of :fish:

It is not as helpul as it sounds. What they teach in classes usually has nothing to do with pet keeping of any kind (although horses came up repeatedly in animal behavior). And there is very little primary research done that can even apply to the hobby, let alone be directly beneficial to it. In most cases you will learn more with a good home library of aquarium books as you would with a whole Biology degree.

Wow fish guy, congrats, and also many ingredients says it contain something as a source of vitamin c, ALL of the food says it has that stuff, also idk what shrimp meal and the other meal differences

And modest even! What a guy! Still, your article speaks intelligence to me, learned much from it :teacher:
