trying JBC nova bel at the moment.
what you think.

I read tetra min tropical flakes has good nutrition value but I'm still deciding whether to get tetra color flakes, tetra min flakes, or tetra color plus flakes,

I wouldn't feed Tetra, not on the 'good enough' category IMO.

I only feed and recommend New Life Spectrum. They do have a flake, but pellets are a better option. They are cleaner to feed, fill the fish better, and preserve their nutrition better.

My angels absolutely loved tetra-min. I'm now using tetra color tropical granules though, because that was the one with the most protein that I could find. I mix it with a vege flake and live food.

Tetra Color Crisps first three ingredients: fish meal (probably by-products=heads, bones, scales, etc.), dried yeast, corn starch, not a good start to any fish food, definitely not high quality. Next ingredients are shrimp meal (again, may be by-products), wheat gluten (boosts lab protein tests, even if it isn't available to the fish), brown rice (again, protein boost), and potato protein (again, increases lab protein tests). This food also includes artificial colors.

There are MUCH better foods out there, feed as good as you can.

Their veggie flakes are about the same except algae meal is the fourth ingredients (my be very little compared to the first three ingredients). I guess that is where the spirulina is since it isn't listed elsewhere in the ingredients.

Both formulas contain ethoxyquin.

It's information for anyone feeding or considering Tetra.

what flake food would you recommend? I will be the first to say I don't look at the ingredients, which is probably a less valid way of shopping  I was only looking for high protein, as that was what I thought was important

Protein is important, but it is more important that it is high quality protein. High quality ingredients mean high digestibility. This means more gets absorbed into the fish and doesn't just pass out the other end. Many terrestrial protein sources are not bioavailable to fish, meaning that although it will increase the protein % in a lab (and therefore on a package), it is not of any use to the fish (and can even cause problems in fish with sensitive digestive systems like mbuna and other cichlids). So a food with high quality protein sources and 25% protein is healthier and may have more bioavailable protein than a food with 50% protein on the label.

I only feed and recommend New Life Spectrum. It is the best fish food in my experience.

What about aqua eon?MIT seems like ur very confident about new life spectrum, if so, which new life box is for guppies

Who is MIT?

I would feed guppies the 1mm Thera+A, depending on what else is in the tank. If the guppies are the largest fish in the tank you could do the 0.5mm Thera+A.

I meant it but typo sorry

What about those new life spectrum formula ( small, medium, large) boxes? I'm new to new life spectrum

New Life Spectrum has three main formulas. 1-regular, which is the same as goldfish, cichlid, large, medium, small, community, etc. 2-Thera+A Formula which has enough extra garlic to kill some parasites (all the formulas have garlic, the Thera+A just has a lot more) and a little more fat and protein than the regular formula, and 3-Grow Formula which has more protein and fat than the regular or Thera+A formulas for growing fish (young fish that are still in a high growth period) since growing fish need the extra fat and protein but is more than adult fish should have long term.

So the 2- thera A would be the best choice for adult guppies since it has more garlic for parasites, and more fat and protein?

gee i started something here lol.
New Life Spectrum - not seen that in the uk or not easily found.
so tetra is iffy then , what else apart from New Life Spectrum?
