Hi if i had the cash i would get 2 x 700s . Just changed the top white floss filter today on my 1200 , only needs doing once a month compaired to my internal which was 2 times per week.

Eheim, for ease of maintenance go with the Pro or Pro II. If you really want the self prome function go with the ProII.

If you have a double tap set you should have to prime any Eheim canister once, when you first set it up. When it's time for filter maintenance, turn off the filter, shut the double taps, and disconnect the filter. when the water level is below the spraybar, open the valve for the spraybar only, and drain it into a small container. Do your filter maintenance, connect the lines, and open them both. The water will begin to siphon in, filling the canister. Once you see the water come up to the level of the tank in the spraybar line it's full, plug it in.

I've been running Eheim canisters for years, maintenance is done every 6 months, and they are really not that dirty, and neither is the tank. Talk to folks that have been running canisters for 5, 10, 15 years, and see which have been running that long. These are the type of folks that if something doesn't work as well as another product it gets replaced.
