Best Courier And Price For Sending Fish.

You can send special delivery via Royal mail for £6.50 generally, as long as the fish are packed well. Although I would be wary of informing the post office or what you are sending, as they may refuse the package if it's fish livestock.

Special Delivery if sent before 1pm, should arrive the following day.

well i was thinking, would they not be able to tell it had water inside?

by the fell of it?

No they wouldn't, unless it was packed incorrectly. You should pack the box with plenty of newspaper, and bubblewrap to minimise movement while in transit. Don't worry, just put fragile on the box and I'm sure there will be no questions asked, and no problems. :)

isn't that illegal?

Sending fish by Royal Mail? Most definately not, I bet over 50% off people who send fish here on TFF from the UK use Royal Mail, infact... probably more! :)
Unfortunately most definitely yes. Doing it (myself included) doesn't make it any more legal. And only a few 100 ml of water is allowed to be sent anyway - part of a glass water feature or not. Only things such as insects and snails are allowed to be sent. I spoke to several Royal Mail people directly to verify this.

Hi Sam,
I send fish and eggs via Royal Mail, (what they don't know, wont hurt them). What you need is a strong poly-box. (I get mine from the hospital, dims. are around 12"x12"x8" deep) line the box with bubblewrap or newspaper, Net your fish and place one fish in each bag with 1/3 water and 2/3 air. Now double bag this, the reason being is that if one bag leaks then the other will provide a sort of puddle and the fish is more likely to survive than if the water drains completely. Clearly label the bags with species name etc. And seal the poly lid with heavy duty tape. Wrap the whole thing in heavy brown packaging paper and address and label Fragile. You can add a heat pack inside of the lid if you think that the weather is going to be cooler, especially at night. Sent first class via Royal Mail the package should reach the recipient the next day. As for the cost, well that depends on the package, mine usually costs around £3.50 and I look to make £5.00 clear per pair of Killi's.
I hope this was of some help to you.
Regards
BigC

Wow, I wasn't aware of this. What is the punishment for being caught - not that this is likely..

omg please dont use the royal mail........we get a lot of parcels arriving from them ( im a big fan of internet shopping!!!) & the state of some of them when they arrive is unbelievable they look like theyve been used as a football for a couple of hours. ( although i do know that it tends to be worse when stuff is going through certain london post offices/areas)
i would not send anything live with royal mail....ever.
