Hi all,

I'v had some experience of glass/ceramic diffusers from ebay and while they are OK, the ceramic disc almost always gets clogged and eventually just lets out quite large bubbles from the glass/ceramic joints. This results in the bubbles rising quite fast and thus not getting the chance to mix with the water properly.

Does anyone have experience with a good quality diffuser? Sources? Costs?

Many thanks.

Irf.

The best way is a venturi reactor or a mazzai (look on the barr report for details) but if you want to stick with ceramic diffusers just buy 2 and switch them over every week and bleach soak while not in the tank to ensure its always clean.

All ceramic diffusors will clog because thats the nature of anything that is in the water. They need maintenance just like your filter does.

Soak in bleach fortnightly for 5-10 minutes then soak in dechlor water for 5-10 minutes twice and reinstall.

The bubbles will remain slightly larger than the pics but if they are under the water outlet then they will get blown around the tank so shouldn't matter.

If your DC is gren then you are on the money so don't worry about the size of the bubbles or where the are coming out of the diffusor.
