Beneficial Bacteria in gravel

so its a mystery, cycling jus sucks, i think ill go get some Cycle maybe that will work. Some say it has.

Yea i wish i had, but now my ammonia is way too high for any fish so i cnt do that. Does Cycle really have a good impact during the Cycle process.

I cant say yes or no for sure, but with my 100g, I had some barbs in there, and used Cycle and it was a couple days before everything levelled out. I would never be able to wait 15 days+

A lot of these 'cycling' products are dubious at best. Everyone of them has some successes and some failures. Right now, you need to be patient. Fishless cycling will take 2-4 weeks, but cycling with fish would have taken 4-6 weeks, and you harm the fish in the process. You are doing a very kind thing by not harming fish right now!

But, patience. A lot of fishkeeping is patience, not jumping to medicate too quickly until the disease has been completely diagnosed, not adding too many fish, not chasing the fish around the tank when netting them -- all require patience. And that includes cycling. It will be done soon, just give it some time.

Yea, but my fishless cycle obviosly didnt work since my nitrite went to 2 and then back down to .5 and my ammonia was 8.0 the whole time. So its not working obviously. I must have kille dthe bacteria or sumthin/

You know, the nitrite going down may also be because the nitrite consuming bacteria have grown to a sufficient level. If the ammonia bacteria are behind it, it will appear the ammonia is going right to nitrate, but there is an intermediate step that may be happening esentially immediately.

Nevertheless, even if you did kill them off, they will grow back. Nature will take care of this, if you give it enough time. That is why I preach patience.

Really? Because my test results say different. I had 0 Ammonia and 0 Nitrites after a few days, I took them in to be tested just to make sure :D All New too, nothing to hold beneficial bacteria. And the SD's are 5 inches, the ones I had i nthere when it was cycling, 4'' larger in just under a year. I'd say not too bad.

DB :fish:

fshless cycle was a mistake it didnt work and i did everyhting they said, 21 days and not even a full nitrite spike, im just going to use the product cycle.
