Hi all,

I'm currently upgrading all my fish to a hundred litre tank which leaves an empty 50 litre (Just over 13 gallon) tank, Is this tank gig enough for a pair of dwarf gouramis, and if so does species variation and sex matter? Also, do they do okay in hard water?

You could have a group of honey Gouramis, a male and four females maybe? They do like it heavily planted. With a PH of 6-7.5 - I have these in my 180 litre as I love the look of Gouramis.

My second tank is a 54 litre to which I was debating dwarf Gouramis for, but actually ended up getting 5 sparkling Gouramis, these are lovely fish. This tank s in my kitchen, and they keep me company when I'm washing up ha ha! These also prefer PH of 6 which suits my water conditions.

Dwarf Gouramis I've owned years ago but couldn't really tell you what would be the best ratio for these, maybe a male and two or one females?

I think for the size of the tank, if you go down the dwarf route, one male would be ample and same for honeys, as dont think it would be big enough to house more males and have enough hiding space from aggression.

I have recently learned from previous posts myself inquiring, sparkling Gouramis will be ok in a bigger group as they are harder to sex.

In my 54 litre I have 5 sparklers.

In terms of actual hardness as in KH/GH I would need to google.

I have just seen someone has asked a question under dwarf gourami FAQ written nmonks - who I see has recommended the minimum of 75 litres for a pair of dwarf gourami - have a read
