Got talking to my boss today about my new 25 litre tank, he said why didn't you say you wanted one I want rid of my 50 litre one with stand!! Doh!!!
Ok soooo now I have my 25 litre which I want as a simple but stunning talking point in the kitchen, started on a Fishless cycle and I now have the 50 litre one which my girls want as a marine tank......how much work goes into setting up and indeed maintaining a marine tank?

Marine tank has much more work involvement and hands on to get marine waters parameters pretty much spot on.

Can be much more expensive and IMO extremely difficult for a beginner, also your 50 litre tank is on the small side to start doing marine to be honest.
I'd actually recommend at least a 200 litres tank to start on a marine, the bigger the better really.

You'd need a sump, powerheads, live rocks, TDS meters just to name but a few must haves for marine set ups.

Stay with tropicals is what I would really recommend, if you study or thoroughly research about marines and know the hardships and much higher levels of care involved then by all means go ahead.

Am not trying to put you off but just trying to see if you realise that marine is so much different to doing tropical fish keeping and from what I gather, you have not really started doing tropical yet, just barely started, one step at a time I say!

I'd like to do marine myself one day but theres no way I am going to start doing marine until I become more experienced and more knowledgeable.

Agree entirely with Ch4rlie. I will eventually run a marine tank, but I'm no where near ready for it. It's so expensive and mistakes are so easy to make. Things also go wrong for experienced marine keepers and marine life is far more delicate with much less tolerance to poor conditions. Get a decent couple books as a starting point and browse the videos on marine keeping on YouTube.

After reading a few pages and sites you guys are right! Thanks for pointing that out,  Wow alot to remember with a marine set-up.....think I will get used to tropical first LOL.
I have found out this week that 2 other people at work have healthy tropical tanks, so they are going to give me some assistance with setting up the bigger tank, we have added, water from their tanks to get the cycling off to a good start.

The smaller tank has been helped along with a water change and topped up along with some of their water too......mate is coming back today to help me test the water in both tanks.
