Can anybody give me any information on Beckford's Pencilfish? my lfs is selling them at 4 for $2.99

Nannostomus beckfordi max adult size (male) 3" (female) 2.75"; (note males apaear slimmer with white tipped fins)
Temp range: 24-26 C is the ideal but will do ok in slightly higher temps.
Diet: mostly carnivorous but will eat flakes. frozen & live foods are a must to get their best colouration.
tank requirements: Feathery plants like Java Moss and cambomba are needed, especially if you plan on breeding.
A low pH is desireable but they will readily adapt upto 7.5.

I have 4. They are a very peaceful fish; a perfect community member. Mine do well on a staple diet of flake food, supplemented with frozen brine shrimp, baby brine shrimp and occasional frozen bloodworm. They will also pick at spirulina tablets. They are an interesting fish, they seem to hover with quick fin movements, I've heard them described as hummingbirds. That's a very good price. I'd scoop them up if they fit in with your tank.

That's a VERY good price; every tank should have some Pencilfish, they're endlessly entertaining. Mine are currently 'in the mood' and are doing their little spawning dances every time I look in the tank.
