Hello, I moved my Banjo Catfish to a hospital tank a few months ago because he had a rather large belly and I was a bit worried. I limited feeding and treated the tank for bacterial infection to no avail. I've now noticed that one of his eyes is swollen.

What's the best treatment I can give him?

There is also a Cherry Barb in the tank with him because the cherry has a large stomach too.

...

Not good i'm afraid.
Is he going to the toilet.

 I am sorry creature seeker this sounds like a internal problem. it is not good when ther eyes pop out unfortunatly. there is not alot you can do ! im sorry

Popeye is a bacterial infection and often not hard to treat. But in this case it may well be secondary to what has caused the swollen belly. If as Wilder suspects it is constipation, that needs to be treated with a fast and then daphnia or pea, while the popeye is treated with an antibacterial. This depends of course on the diagnosis and the sensitivity of the species of fish. If the fish is as hardy a species as most catfish and the condition is constipation, there is a chance.

In addition, popeye is often a result of poor tank conditions which can stem from several problems including dirty gravel.

Wanted to know if he was still seeing the fish go to the toilet, as i've had swim bladder with fish and once they stop going to the toilet organ failure.
I would try the peas though this is what i did.
