I just bought this guy this evening and he (maybe she??) already molted. Its color is brilliant now! This one is called Red (it has a friend named Tanner who is, well, tan). I walked by the tank to see if Red or Tanner were filtering yet (not quite), but instead I found this perfectly intact shell. I'm positive it belongs to Red because Tanner hasn't left the left half of the tank yet and this is on the right side a few inches from Red.
I have a question though: Should I remove the Exo? I don't think the bamboo shrimp with eat it, but I've got snails, ghost shrimp, platies, and BN plecos in this tank (though I think I'll trade all the live bearers in for some rasboras at the end of the summer). Will any of them eat the old shell? Also, from the picture of Tanner, can anyone see if Tanner will molt soon too? I'm aware that my shrimp should be handled very delicately right now.
