Bad Fishies!

Oh wow! Beautiful! So that's what they'll look like after 2 months? Almost been 1 month for me and they're still so tiny! I went to look for them today and couldn't find any.. I'm worried..

I really hope so.. it's like I'm just dumping food into an empty tank in my room.. -_-

Do you guys think they're still in there?

Hi, the only way to find out is to drain the tank and see if you can find them, remove all the decor gently and place this in a separate bucket, once the water is fairly shallow you should be able to see them if they are about, although the older they get the more you should be able to see them :/ out of interest what sort of filter do you have in the tank? hope you find them! :)

I have a sponge filter.. it's fairly large. And the rocks at the bottom are bright white. Even if you gently stroke the rocks at the bottom, there are no fish.. I think they're all dead.

It's been exactly 1 month since my fish mated. Would it be cruel to mate them again? How soon can you do another mating? I've been feeding them live worms and keeping the tanks perfect, so they're still conditioned. They've completely recovered and look great.

Hi Drey I'm sorry to hear that  usually they need a two week break in between mating and then conditioning for approx 10 days before proceeding, though it sound as if yours are conditioned so anytime is fine to start ;)
I would try again but this time use a smaller tank between 5-10 gallons with a sponge filter and small 25w heater, fill the tank with approx 6 inches of water and keep the bottom bare, but put plenty of weed in there, once the spawning is over and after the dad is removed it should be alot easier to see your fry, though they wil be tiny! feed them after the first day with smaller food than frozen brine shrimp such as walter worm or micro worm and clean approx 25% of the water every 3 days or so.
Best of luck! :good:

Thank you so much, Betta Fish! Your responses have been really helpful! I've got a 5 gal set up right now, 6 in full with a submersible heater and small sponge filter. There's a thermometer to monitor the temperature and I put a styrofoam cup in this time for the nest building. I dunno if I should put any plants in there.. this tank comes with a hood built in, and a light.. but the light doesn't seem like it would support plant growth very well. MY LFS said that my elodea turned all mushy because I didn't have a proper grow light. I don't want the tank to get all dirty again..

Where can I find micro worms?

Thank you SO much again for your replies!
