personaly i thought them scheme ideas were a disgrace especialy seen as its rspcas job is the welfare of animals

oh i have that book! is that the one with the blue cover with the orange molly? yes it is a rather crap book. if you turn to page 29 you will see a couple of dyed fish in the picture :(
this is the book that caused me to overstock my tank when i first set it up because of those stocking schemes :(

i also have another book which says that clown loaches are a good beginner fish :X

I wrote to the RSPCA a few months ago complaining about this book and pointing out how particularly bad it is that they should put their name to a book that is bound to result in animals dying. I had a letter back saying that they have passed it on to the proper person for investigating; haven't heard since. Of course it wouldn't hurt if more people did the same. I told them that the book ought to be withdrawn and that the next edition must be done with a calculator.
In fact, you can see that some of the bad advice handed out to forum members and other newbies by lfs staff can be traced directly to this book. Keep the letters coming!

hooray for letters!

I wondered if anybody wrote, I forgot about writing actually :*) I'll save it for a boring day, of which I have plenty.

True. I have plenty of email adresses :shifty: . I like writing letters of complaint, I'll see if I can nix the book from somewhere first though so I can point out specific page refrences etc.
