surely if bred i can get some gorjus colours out of these guys?
so whilst waiting for my young HM's reach maturity, i do have a VT pair just ooozing tetestorone so i thought hmmm maybe i should try them out???

Large farms and wholesalers breed VT's. So VT's are the easiest to get, and cheapest type of tail sold. Thats why most breeders find breeding them to be undesirable. Nobody wants to pay much for a fish they can get cheaper at Walmart or Petsmart.

That being said, how old are your HM? I read it is best to breed them before 6 months of age. If you got them at a pet shop, they are probably old enough. If you want to test out your breeding skills with your VT's, go ahead but keep in mind they will be harder to rehome than HM's.

Where did you get the halfmoons? Usually breeders don't sell them until they are 3.5 months.

A very good friend of mine, just asked there 3 months...
found out the betta VT is a femal just a bit odd :S
lol

you got any idea on what spread you think caesar will make???
just curious?

Do you have pics? It would help lol!

If you're going to breed VT's, I wouldn't expect any specific colouring out of them. Their lines are probably all "mutt-ed" up that for all you know you could end up with like 1 orange betta with magical wings and like 10 purple ones with orange polkadots. If you have enough room, then go ahead but don't expect anything amazing to come out of it

People tend to breed there bettas between 3months - 4 months but most tend to think that 3 months is slightly young,Though of the male is building nests and female barring up at that young age why not. :good:

Lol my thoughts exactly!
All seems well shes barred and wow he looks a stunner hes soo cute!!!
i think my Female VT is a bit to bad to go in with the Male who is a big softy! he loves food and will always be that way wher as shimmer likes to be in a smaller empty tank... she seems to stress in the big tank sooooo off to pets at home today see what they have....
oh and ask for a job lol
need money to get these guys bigger and better homes etc... plus they need food!
haha the boyfriend is going mad because once we do a food shop for us we go to pets at home for more things for my ever growing fishy communites, but to make it up to him im getting him a nice group of swordtails..... hes a livebearer man lol!
