Bacterial Bloom

My fish seem happy enough. Its just ugly I am pretty sure its bacterial bloom. I have never had an algae problem as I only run my light a few hours a day. Most of the light the fishtank gets is natural light that is not directly on the tank.

You mentioned in another thread that you have Ph.D in Microbiology, so I wasn't going to argue it is an algea bloom

I know what bacterial bloom is. Just never had it happen though.

And it ended up not being the case. It was slight algae mixed with leaches tannins from my new wood. The light made it look strange to me. The tank is fine now.

Sun shining too low in the back window on the tank. I stopped using the lights during the day so now it is only seeing the natural sunlight.

Algea mixed with tannins is yellow/greenish, not white. Maybe the light like you said made it look whitish instead. Glad problem is solved. But even if it was a heterotrophic bacteria bloom, it would have cleared up in a couple of days.

I do not have a Ph D in Microbiology. I asked where you got yours as you seem to know it all. I have BSAST in Clinical Laboratory Science. Not quite the same thing. I have never had bacterial bloom so I do not know entirely what it looks like.
