I bought a "moonrock" (which is basically a small ceramic cave) from w@lmart awhile back. Noticed that my young albino bristle-nose pleco has been in there a week. Alive but not coming out. Closer notice I find a gang of pleco fry swimming around. I transferred moonrock, babies and daddy to a guppy net.

What do I do now??? How long until I must transfer to a larger tank? I don't want them to be lunch, and I cannot house (provided they live) this many plecos long term.

Thanks!

Water Temp = 79 F
PH = 7
all else zeros.

I want them!!!

How big is your tank? You may be able to keep one of them as BN only get 6 inches. You can post a free add online or even put them up for auction on aquabid or something.

Those sell for $6.99 at my local fish store. You should be able to sell them to someone. I would expect your local fish store would probably take them for free since they can QT & sell them pretty quickly.

I have them in a guppy net within a 55g tank. moonrock, fry, and daddy all in the net. I will try and trade for other fish...I dont have much experience in breeding & selling. I guess I have about 3 months to study up on it! Thanks!

If you're in the New York City area in a couple of months, I'll give you one! :)

I will most likely give them away to friends, craigslist, or something along those lines.

Good deal. I currently have 20 Sailfin/Lyretail Molly fry to unload myself. :lol:

In a 55g tank you should be okay to raise them to a good selling size :) You have more than enough room to play with. How many are there?

bet you must be well happy,im jelous thou!!! i have a mature black female and a young albino which i was hoping would be male but sadly its looking like another female.

i did a little reading up on breeding bristle some time ago and im sure i read that parents defend the young till they are big enough not to be fish food?

Thanks all!

Have them in a net - there must be just over 20 of them. I'll update every so often and let you know how they are doing. I've gotten attached to these ugly little buggers - wish me luck!

If the rest of your fish are ordinary small community fish you shouldn't need to keep them in the net as long as they get to keep their cave. Bristlenoses don't eat their young and other fish don't tend to either. I raised several batches in my community tank (parents, various livebearers and a banded gourami).
