Baby Clown Loach

The LFS I usually buy my fish from has a tank with clown loaches, some of them 8+ inches. Its a 6 foot display tank.
 
I know they can grow fairly big, I just thought they were a bit small to be on sale. They were prob only half an inch long
 
First, clowns come in small because it is illegal to export the larger ones. The reason for this is they take so long to reach sexual maturity in that allowing the collection and export of the big ones would be counterproductive. I think is is wrong for them to have been exported and sold at that size. They should be at least 1.25-1.5 inches TL to ship, imo.

And yes they do get to over a foot in tanks. My 3 biggest are mostly now 8-10 inches. Go to loaches.com and look at the pics of what is there.

Marge passed last year but i think Basil is still around- ( you will see pics of both on the loaches.com site). This photo there is the reason I keep clowns http://www.loaches.c...view_fullscreen (the big one is Basil).
