So i guess that means you are feeding them bbs 6 times a day ;)
 
How long do you think the Angelfish - Neon Tetra combination will work for? Do you plan this to be your long term combination?
 
Mmm neons make tasty snack sized treats for adult angelfish :)
However, if the angels are small when put in a tank with neons, and the angels are well fed, they don't normally bother trying to eat the neons.

I just have never considered the two species as long-term roommates.

A lot of people do it. We had heaps of customers that kept neons and angelfish together. They seemed to be alright and the only times we heard about neons being eaten was when adult angelfish were introduced into a tank with neons or neons were added to a tank with adult angels. Either way is went badly for the neons :)
 
I've kept angels with cardinals which are a bit larger. It mostly works as long as you can tolerate a few of them vanishing from time to time. With neons being smaller i would presume they would vanish faster. In my case i've raised the angels from frys:
